Funeral services for Norman Dean Ridgeway, 74 year-old Colony, OK resident, will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Colony Baptist Church with Jim Constant officiating. Burial will follow in Poage Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Dean was born August 26, 1950, in Carnegie, OK, to Thurman Doyle and Wanda Louise (Bowerman) Ridgeway and passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, surrounded by his family, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Dean was raised by his parents on their farm northeast of Colony. He graduated from Colony High School in1968. This is also where he met the love of his life, Rhonda Luekenga, who were sweethearts throughout school. They were married on November 28, 1970.
Dean was employed by 3M, later known as Imation and then Kodak, for 37 years. During this time, he also had a painting business and farmed. In 2011, Dean began working for Washita County District 1 and remained until retirement due to poor health in 2024.
Dean loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Serenity. Over the years he enjoyed many hobbies, including restoring classic cars, coyote hunting with greyhounds, team roping, hunting, fishing and bowling. His most important hobby was coffee at Cobb Creek Station each morning.
Faith was a valuable aspect of his life. In 1978, Dean accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at Colony Baptist Church, where he was a member until his passing. He and Rhonda were church youth co-sponsors for over 20 years with Janice and Wayne Smith.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Ridgeway and Wanda Ridgeway-Smith, and niece, Bailey Layne McGlothlin.
Dean is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rhonda Ridgeway of their home in Colony; daughters, Deidra Flores and husband Chris of Hydro and Darci Dunn and husband Jerry of Elk City; one granddaughter, Serenity Flores; brother, Jim Ridgeway and wife Debbie of Eakly; sister-in-law, Beverly Axtell of Weatherford; nieces, Kesha Axtell, Kaci Reed and husband Kenny and their children Laurel and Avery, Kenzie Axtell and her son, Caleb, Summer House and husband Landon and their children Tristyn, Londyn, Langdon, Charlee, Jackson, and Brooks; nephews Travis Ridgeway and wife Aprill and their children Scout and Sedar, Trevor Ridgeway and wife Erin and son Eli; and numerous friends.
